Girolle Cheese Shaver

Hi All, It has been a while since i have been on the forum and it is nice to catch up and read what is going on .

I have read about the Girolle cheese shaver and wondered if any of you have had the opportunity to use one! Apparently it makes some really dramatic fluffy wavy continuous or not, curls. With the right cheese consistency, one can make rosettes with it and typically used on semi hard to hard cheeses. There is also a model to shave chocolate.

I suppose this little gizmo can dress up any cheese platter. Creative Cookware offers one for $40 and comes with a round wooden base. I am not too crazy about the pin that is inserted into the centre of your cheese wheel but it needs this stabilty in order to anchor itself before the shaving begins. Any thoughts or experiences from any of you?
