What kind of cheese would this be?

I'm new to the forum (planning first make, probably a CaerPhilly).

Anyway, when I was a kid, we bought what was called 'Goat Cheese' from a small goat dairy/cheesemaker.

It was made in good size rounds, maybe 6-8" tall and 15" diameter (Size is a guess from several decade old memories).

The cheese was very hard, but sliceable.  The outside had salt on it and maybe 1/4" -1/2" in was very salty.

The rest of the cheese had a slight salty taste.

If you bent a slice, it would break when you bent it 45 degrees or so.

I remember walking to get cheese and would just ask for a wedge and carry it back to my grandma's house.

Anyway, i know it's not much to go on, but thought I'd throw out the question.   This was in Southern Colorado in the 70's

Thanks,
AJ

Did you see this?  I would guess there are many dairies like this in the S Colorado area though.

Although that dairy is about 30 miles from where the one was when I was a kid, that cheese looks VERY similar to what I remember (the hard cheese).

So I guess it's still just called 'Goat Cheese', that's what we called it when I was a kid.

Thanks,
