Yep, those work great, especially for the larger batches. The nylon fine strainers from your local homebrew store are great for ricotta and other similar cheeses with small curd.
I've used both butter muslin/fine cheesecloth and the nylon strainers, and I've gotten really fond of the nylon strainers. I have some made into bags from the local homebrew store that stretch over my pots and also do a great job as mold liners
