We are in the path of a cyclone that is due to make land near us on Sunday night of monday morning.  Already have heavy rains and flooding, so is going to be an interesting  couple of days.
If I don't post you will know that we were hit.

Tea, hope you and family stay safe and minimal damage to all Queensland.

As of 4:40AM Mar 7 Houston time it is a CAT4 and appears to be running down your coast, normally here in Houston Texas they come in at 90 degrees to the coast.

I suspect that an Aussie CAT4 is the same as a US CAT4 in which case be very careful as Katrina that hit east of New Orleans et al in 2005 was a CAT4 when it came ashore and Rita that hit Galvetson - Houston later in 2005 was a CAT3 when it came ashore and both caused immense damage.

From all accounts, this is going to be a big one.  I echo John’s remarks and hope you come out the other end with your family safe and without damage.
It’s 8.30 am here in SE Queensland, and a slight breeze is blowing with some cloud, but the sun is shining. No doubt it will worsen as the next 36 hours or so pass.  Take care.

Bella, forgot you are also in Queensland, take care also. Here in Texas, the more in land you are the less severe/more downgraded the storm becomes.

Well in the end it moved just that bit further out to sea and apart from a bit of wind and rain we got nothing.  It is Bella's area that is going to cop this now.  Yesterday it was a catagory 5 which is the most dangerous, but apparently it was down graded late last night to a 4.  Not sure what it is doing at the momnet.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

Hi Tea,

They say it's still off the C Qld coast. The suns out here but there's that stillness in the air and the glare from  the sun... its not gone yet.  These are the ones that causeall the  trouble.....   speedup, slow down.  speedup.  We'll just have to wait and see.
