Just found this place in Johnson City located at 817 W. Walnut Street near East Tennessee State University. Phone (434) 232-1460. The name is the
Epicurean Outpost. It is a small family operation that has supplies for homebrewing beer, wine, and cheesemaking. I visited there the other day and picked up my very first cheese making book, Home Cheese Making by Ricki Carroll ($16.95). I also got some liquid Calcium Chloride (3 oz. for $5)and 4 oz. of Tartaric Acid (also $5) just to get me started. I didn't need any rennet at this time but they have a good supply on hand if you do. They had numerous other items for the home cheese maker which included a couple of presses, curd ladles, instant read thermometers, etc. etc...
Just give them a visit if you are going to be in the area or give them a call and ask before you go if they have what you want.
