A couple of recommendations..
« on: July 22, 2015, 01:43:13 PM »
I just joined Cheftalk.com forum mainly for learning more about cooking sous vide but there are some cheese-related topics as well.  After I did my intro I found another new member who has this blog which is, well, pretty amazing.  I'm adding a link to what looks like an intriguing "food-porn" project she's apparently been working on (not sure how a young mother with a hungry babushka would have time to do that :)).

Anyone who loves cheese loves food, so if you have some favorite foodie links (aside from the BIG ones like allrecipes, food.com, etc.) that you've found please share... I wonder if lunch is ready yet? ;D.

This might count as a "big one", but I am a huge fan of the Serious Eats website: http://www.seriouseats.com/ More specifically, of the guy who founded it, J. Kenji Lopez-Alt and his Food Lab articles. He chooses a dish or type of food and then uses science to figure out the best way to cook it, busting food myths along the way. It's so nice to find a food website that cuts through the crap and doesn't perpetuate the cooking myths that other sites do!

He also has an enormous cookbook out in September called The Food Lab, which I most definitely will be buying. :)

Stuart, any one who has this topic first in his lineup gets my respect.  Nice catch.

Ha! Yeah, it's a great site. I do a lot of cooking at home, so whenever I think of something new I'd like to cook or a new technique I'd like to try, I search Serious Eats first to see if they've done an article on it. Most of the time they have. For example, I cooked southern fried chicken for the first time ever last night and used Kenji's technique -- turned out brilliantly!

Southern USA or Southern Austrialia  :).  Either way I'll check it out as I have 60 yrs. experience eating fried chicken  It was my most favorite food growing up; so much when I wouldn't eat anything else for breakfast my dear mom would make some of her wonderful fried chicken before I went to school.  What a memory that is and still love it to this day.
