Cottage Cheese Yield?

My yield on cottage cheese is about 1/2 of what I get from most other cheeses per gallon of milk.
Is that what you all have found, or is there something that I'm doing that's causing a poor yield?

I haven't made cottage cheese, but my gut says this doesn't sound right. (And believe me, I have a considerable gut ... !)
What recipe / procedure are you using for the make?

Thanks for the response. My gut was off on this, too. Hence, my question. I was certain I should have gotten more. But I will say that when I weighed it, it turned out that I actually got more than it looked like--4 3/4 pounds from 6 gallons of milk

Usually I will get at least 6 pounds from 6 gals (24L), most of the time I much more. Adjust your acid and temperature.

Ann
That's what I was expecting--at least 1 pound per gallon.
