A handshake from the Netherlands
« on: August 26, 2009, 09:10:38 AM »
Hello Cheeselovers,

I'm Jeroen from the
Netherlands and a starter in cheesemaking (my wife studied foodtechnology specialized in cheese, but I'm in IT). We like producing our own food, so my wife grows vegetables in the garden and I make wine, beer and keep bees. Also we have a couple of chicken. The dutch forum is rather small so I came to look here to learn about cheese making.

Goedemorgan Jeroen from Houston! Well goedemiddag in The Netherlands.

Ik spreek geen Nederlands but I've worked with many Dutch for many years.

I believe you are our first member in NL, so I've just added a NL Geographic Board in case you or anyone wants to post some NL type info. We also have a Dutch Board for anyone who wants to converse in Dutch.

Great to have you here especially as the last couple weeks I've been making Gouda's and Havarti, OK Havarti is a Danish type cheese but based on the Dutch washed curd method most popular in Gouda and Edam. Don't know if that's where your interest or experience is but if so then any advice appreciated.

Again welkom, tot straks!
