Pont L'eveque Cheese - what is it most similar to?
« on: October 08, 2009, 10:30:37 PM »
Hi!  I want to make a recipe from 'French Women for all seasons' which calls for Pont L'eveque cheese.  Does anyone know what is the best substitution if this cheese cannot be found?  How similar to brie is this cheese?
Thanks!  Jess

Hi smelly/Jess, sounds interesting, several hits using a web search which show's it's a washed rind cow's milk normally square but shallow shapped cheese. No mention of P candidum white mold like you get in Brie so I don't think that is a good substitute.

Some example of washed rind French cheeses are Tallegio & Epoisses.
