Vacuum Sealer recomendations?
« on: November 22, 2009, 04:45:44 PM »
I'm in the market for vacuum packager.  A friend of mine has FoodSaver GameSaver and is fairly happy with it.

Anybody have any opinions about the FoodSaver line?  SnorkelVac?

I have two Foodsavers and I also a Seal a Meal. Both are excelent and get used more than any other appliance I own except the fridge or freezers. Just make sure you get the big one it's 11 inches the small one is only 8 inches.

Also don't waste your money on bags buy rolls and make the sizes you need.

I use the food saver sealer and love the hands free feature.I find the pre cut bags more cost efficient found a whole saler and get for .o5 a bag. When sealing 30 wheels it saves time.

I guess we should qualify our sizes before making a recommendation. I can not fit my cheeses in pre-cut bags.

I knew you'd show up, you geek! LOL
Good luck on the parm tomorrow.
My family is not able to celebrate Thanksgiving until tomorrow so I made another batch of cheddar today.
As I said, I'm tied up tomorrow but Saturday and Sunday are mine.
Saturday I'm doing another Cheddar and Sunday either a Romano or a Stilton.
Make sure you post some photos of tomorrow's make. I'm still amazed that you are working with 24 gallons at a time.

I am in and out today as well. Wayne, good luck on the parm tomorrow. I made a 23 gallon Monterey jack on Monday and will make another big cheddar on Sat. I am approaching the end of the cheesemaking window. I can only keep this up for about another month or so and then I will cut back to 1 cow and only one cheese (much smaller) every 2 weeks. I have filled up my cave (20 cubic feet) about half full. Lots of cheese to open in 2010!

Happy Thanksgiving all! Yes I've been in and out all day. Did make an appearence at the casino. My som wanted to take his new girl out for Chinese (none of us are really crazy about turkey) but they were all closed. W found them at the casino too. So we spent Thanksgiving at Maragaretaville. Much rather have a steak than a turkey anyday!  :D
