Crema Natural - Cancun, Yucatan, Mexico
« on: January 10, 2010, 04:53:18 PM »
My family and I were on holiday in Yucatan Mexico over Christmas & New Years, saw no cows and no goats and thus local Mayan people eat very little dairy foods or cheese.

But did find some cheeses in Cancun large grocery of Mexican Crema Natural which I think is Cream Cheese or American Style Neufchatel in English.

13 Mexico Peso's = 1 USD.

CH--they also sell many varieties of the crema here in Phoenix--most are very similar to creme fraiche--was that the texture, or was it thicker?

The M$40.80 comes to about US$3.25 dollars.

I am thinking that "queso crema" is cream cheese.

So, "crema natural" literally is "natural cream." So, maybe it's Mexican creme fraiche?
