Hi from Canada
« on: July 04, 2010, 07:52:47 PM »
I'm a cowgirl..well a goatgirl too actually ;)
I live in Canada on a small farm, have goats and a Jersey cow who I milk.
We will add a few sheep next week hopefully...I love making cheese, actually we try to make everything ourselves.
A few years ago we made the transition in life to become  self sufficient where possible.

From the milk I make, mostly cheese hard and soft and yogurt.
Since we are renovating our home and I can't use my basement to store my cheeses,I was looking on the internet if I would be able to age cheese in my (old) fridge...and that is how I found this forum.

Nice to meet you all, and I hope I will feel at home here and hang out a lot.

Hi cowgirl, happy July 1 Canada Day and happy today July 4, Independence Day here today in USA, I'm from Vancouver but live in Houston. Where in Canada, my wife's from Calgary?

Yes you can use your old fridge but most built in thermostats do not let you go warm enough so most people buy an external thermostat to over ride it, several posts in the Cheese Cave Board.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I picked cowgirl, because Milkmaid was already taken.
I have no connection with any creamery than my own ;-)

Welcome, cowgirl!

Looking forward to your pictures and comments. You're definitely in the right place.

Bread, beer, wine, cheese...it's all good.
