Cheese Events In Or Around Dallas (Not Limited To Texas)?

Does any one know of any cheese events in or around Dallas?
It could be anything from tasting to making to classes to lectures and seminars? Any thing that involves learning about cheese.
I am a culinary student and don't really get to learn as much about cheese as i would like to.
Thanks, Anna

Hi Anna ...I'm a newbie in Houston looking for the same ...classes, info, etc. I found in Dallas there is The Mozzarella Company where you can learn some interesting things. Website
http://www.mozzco.com/.
Also, in Elm Mott, which is a little drive from Dallas on the way towards Waco on 35 South, there is a place called Homestead Heritage ....
http://www.homesteadheritage-homesteading.com/index.html...
And they have classes. I'm taking one in Oct. They are sold out until Jan but I did get in via standby list.
Perhaps there are others who know of other options!

Hello.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to point out that today we are blessed with very many resources for making cheese. I thought I would provide some of them as a start.
1. This forum - I can't even express in words how much I learned just reading the archives of all the forums here. I'm still in the process and enjoying every minute of it.
2. Another forum for cheese making appears to be here:
http://www.rickandlynne.com/rick/go/forums/viewforum/7/
I don't know much about it as I haven't had the time to visit it yet.
3. There are numerous books on cheese making. Searching Amazon will give you a pretty good idea. Many of them have been discussed here on the forums. Doing the search will allow you to see the discussions.
4. Univ. of Guelph site:
http://www.foodsci.uoguelph.ca/cheese/welcom.htm
5. Peter Dixon's Web site:
http://dairyfoodsconsulting.com/recipes.shtml
6. New England Cheese Making site:
http://www.cheesemaking.com/store/pg/6-Recipes.html
7. The Beverage People site:
http://www.thebeveragepeople.com/cheese.htm
8. David B. Fankhauser site:
http://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/Cheese/CHEESE.HTML
I'll stop at that for now as that is plenty of info already. There are of course many many more. As I said reading the forum and searching the internet will produce a wealth of good info.

You are very welcome. I'm glad you are enjoying these as much as I do.
I left this out of my post above thinking that you'll find it anyway as you explore the forum. But I think I'll go ahead and point you in that direction anyway. As I mentioned there are many wonderful subforums/subsections and they are all a worthy read. One of them is called "Library" and has lots of publications on Cheesemaking and related topics.

And on the truly scientific, and perhaps esoteric side. Here's a link to the Journal of Dairy Science:
