Newbie in search of Vignotte
« on: September 22, 2010, 08:41:14 AM »
Hello,

Just joined. My name comes from a Robyn Hitchcock song - as in someone ring the cheese alarm I'm getting carried away... ;)

I'm looking at embarking on that next step of the cheese lover - making my own. I'm in a regular single level suburban house without an awful lot of spare room but am keen to potentially seek out a class or workshop nearby - Hills District - NW of Sydney, Australia.

I grew up in the UK and miss some of the cheeses I had easy access to there. One particular cheese I miss is Vignotte - had trouble finding it in France let alone in Australia.

If anyone has a recipe for it I'd be real keen. Is Chaource a close enough cousin do you think for me to try ?

Anyway - only just turned up and lots of reading to do here so thanks for reading and hope to get some valuable info here and feedback with any interesting developments in my cheese walk.

Cheers,

Steve

Howdy Steve, welcome, sorry but I have not heard of it and have no idea if it is similar.

It is a triple cream brie.
