Farmstead Sheep Cheese Operation In Tennessee
« on: November 21, 2010, 02:23:12 PM »
My friend, Sheri Palko of Locust Grove Farm is looking to sell the cheese making half of her sheep dairy business in the Knoxville, TN area. I have known Sheri for about 5 years now. She has grown this business dramatically in that time.  If anyone here is interested, you can reach Sheri via the phone number at the bottom of this message. East Tennessee is a great place to live and work. Taxes are very low and property prices reasonable relative to other parts of the country. The option also exists to move the business where ever the buyer chooses.

Here is the email I received from her this morning:

I wanted to mention to the group that the "cheese half" of Locust Grove is
for sale.  We are in the process of moving to our new location (just south
of here) over the next three years and running all aspects of the business
has become too much for one person.
Selling the cheese half and selling my milk will enable me to make this
transition and double the size of my flock.  Genetics and the sheep are my
passion, so letting the other half go seems logical.
We have the lowest bacteria records of any dairy in the state, and some of
the best dairy sheep genetics in the entire country.
The new owner has the option of using the existing make room and cave (in
west Knoxville) for up to three years.  I am very flexible about the sale, I
simply have been unable to find good, dependable help and figured selling
that half would at least mean the person continuing with it would have more
of a vested interest than an employee.
The sale includes name, logo, existing customer base, cheese recipes,
equipment, etc.  Could also include current cave inventory.
Serious inquiries only.
Please contact me privately.
You can learn more about Locust Grove on our website.

Thanks,
Sheri Palko, owner/manager

Just curious if it sold? Saw this post and got all excited, until I looked at the date.
