Haloumi - Quick Float Time
« on: January 29, 2011, 10:06:25 AM »
Hi

I made Haloumi (and Feta) today and suddenly thought to ask about the float time when cooking the Haloumi. My recipe says to cook for half an hour or until the pieces float. Mine floated within 5 minutes but I left it for another 5 minutes wondering if the short time would matter. In the past I have always cooked it on for at least 20 minutes but I decided to follow the recipe a bit more literally this time. Mistake??

My serving pieces are about 2cm thick and about 8 x 5 cms in size. Do they float because they are thinner?

I've only ever had one batch of Haloumi not work, the rest has been perfect but I wonder if I have ruined my record by following the instruction and pulling these out too early?
