Hi from Wisconsin
« on: April 06, 2011, 01:04:54 AM »
Just wanted to stop in and say howdy.   I must confess I am a cheese head.
I have been lurking and enjoying the information on this forum.
I am just about to start milking again.   Waiting on my heifer to calve.   Due today.   '
I have been making cheese for 5 years, and grew up on a dairy farm.
Thanks for all the great information here.
Michele

A cheese maker AND from Wisconsin!  That gives you all kinds of credibility!  Welcome to the forum.  Everyone is so helpful and friendly.  We look forward to hearing more from you.

Howdy from an Idaho cheesemaking novice... how did the calving go? What breed of cows do you keep?

Thank you for the warm welcomes.
I am from Bruce.
My current cow is a 3/4 jersey and 1/4 holstein.
Got her from MrsKK.
Got to keep milk tonight, can't wait to taste and make cheese!

I just wanted to say, I think it's really cool to have 2 people with related cows, producing milk and making cheese, and contributing on this forum.  I do like Madison, but I must admit I envy the both of you. :)

Welcome aboard Michele. I always expected more cheese makers here from Wisconson for some reason there are just a few.  I get my cheese supplies from Dairy Connections and my coffee beans Burmans Coffee Traders both from Madison. Good people to deal with.

I'm hoping to see some of my students pop up here, too, but it hasn't happened yet.  Maybe they are still lurking...
