Pressing Multiple Cheeses - Weight?
« on: April 22, 2011, 10:47:23 AM »
I m using a dutch type press. I am wanting to press two molds side by side. How does the weight change that I need to press. I will lay a cutting board across the two molds for an even weight distribution. Do I simply calculate the PSI for the cutting board?or is it still calculated for the total area of the two molds?

You are spreading your weight/psi over 2 cheeses, so you need to double your weight. The cutting board counts, but is probably insignificant.

You have doubled the effective surface area of the wheels-so you need to double the amount of weight that you are using. If you stacked vertically the surface area would remain the same so the ~ weight need would be ~ the same.
