January 12, 2009 Cheese Tasting Party & Dinner

Well my neighbors folks were back in Houston & I got asked over for cheese tasting and dinner as some new cheeses from neighbors trip to Holland and as his Dad Fred had brought down a couple of his homemade cheeses. This was second time, 1st posted here.

Needless to say with kids at school choir practise and wife in Calgary visiting her parents . . . I accepted, took my recently made Feta & Neufchatel and bottle of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon and had a great night ;D.

I intentionally avoided that question!

Sadly it wasn't Fred or my cheeses or the Stilton or the aged zingy majestic Boerenkaas brand 2 year Gouda with the Calcium Lactate Crystals that did go wonderfully pop when you crunched them . . . for me it was the Danish Castello brand soft Blue Cheese, creamy, light, disolved in your mouth like expensive chocolate ::).

Remebrant....One of the greatest cheeses ever created!  I just love the complex flavors from the milk and those crystals.  It's like crack for a cheese head!

Ha, I wouldn't know about crack, but I get the idea ;D.

To be frank, I ate alot of cheese and not much supper, I wasn't a good guest that way :-[.

I've heard that sadly babies of crack addicts will also be addicted to it . . . so don't go feeding any nibbles to your new wonderful baby!

Funny!  I don't think my wife would like Darrien's first exposure to real dairy products to be a wonderfully aged Gouda!  Knowing what I know now I would have liked my first experience with dairy products to be that exact Gouda.  Ha Ha
