Controlling Heat and Cooling in cave(Freezer)
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:25:03 PM »
I am starting to gather the "stuff" I am going to need for a Cheese cave utilizing an upright frostfree freezer, I have a bit of experience with the electronics involved but would appreciate
input from any with knowledge to share. I am going to have this located in my unheated garage, the problem is the need to not just cool in the summer but heat it in the winter on occasion. Temps of 20F aren't uncommon in Jan-Feb. I am considering using this controller to heat with a ceramic element (screw in type it looks like a light bulb) located inside freezer. On its face it looks like it should work fine, maybe thats why I'm nervous...... It's right about $60 which is affordable for me.

I'm not sure how to attach the URL for the manual hope this works.

I would accually consider using a light bulb (a small table lamp maybe?) and If its over heating the freezer compressor will just kick in.
You need to try different wattage bulbs untill you hit the sweet spot where the freezer work is kept to a minimum (so your not wasting power).
