The size of this file shows that no real resizing was accomplished. The file you attempted to post is not a format that can be viewed.

Your camera should have settings where you can select the default size of the pictures it records and also the format that it saves those pictures in. That default size and the amount of memory in your camera sets the number of pictures (discounting videos) you can take. The picture format might be selectable as TIFF, JPG or JPEG, GIF, etc. Verify what those settings are in your camera.

I don't know how you saved this file with a .xcf extension (GIMP format?), but the first step is to have the correct format. I may have wrongfully assumed that you were running Windows. There is an image converter to make the .xcf a .jpg, but I've never used it. You should be able to just download the pictures off your camera in JPG/JPEG format. That's where you want to start.

I am running windows vista. The name of the pic that was saved from my camera was  img 0394 jpg. I assume that it was injpg format? The message that I would receive was that I had timed out, but the posting process was not lengthy. Did you see the cheese?

the name of the program I downloaded off the website you gave me was Gimp I think. The xcf was added after I did whatever I did to the pic with the software . I tried to follow your instructions to the letter, but some of the prompts that I saw weren't exactly as you stated.

I use Windows Picture Manager to downsize photos - open your JPEG image with it, choose the editing tab and you'll see one for compressing pictures. There are a couple of options, the one for publications compresses it enough for this purpose.

Thanks, at least someone could see it. I am still battling my idiocy, but hopefully will be able to post if I can get the correct software downloaded. I went back to the website and immediately recognized my mistake.

Here is my other pic, same cheese. Robbed the PR from a real Stilton. Made from 2 gal store bought PH milk / 1pint cream added (ultra past), aged 9wks at 50 deg. covered with plastic container on reed mat in small hotel style "cool box" -the kind you had in your room at the hotel that never kept your beer cold. My daughter is an event planner at a large hotel in Mobile they replaced these because of complaints from guests and I bought 2. They are actually meant for wine they refrigerate at 45ish to 55ish. but they don't have that fan that the "wine coolers"ahve. Perfect for the small  cheese maker, just use water bowl in bottom, spray the sides daily and wait. I think I've got my method down now, this is the 3rd cheese in a row that has looked just like this.

Hallelujah! Huzzah!!  ::)

You know, I went back to the Paint.Net site and looked for where you could have taken the wrong turn. There it was...at the bottom of the page!

Finally...the cheese looks great. Unfortunately the software won't correct out-of-focus, but it will allow you to do a whole lot more in the future. Good going, T-Bird.

As I think I said earlier, if you decide you want to label something or circle it to highlight it, Paint.Net will let you do that very easily.
