Cheese Head

Bought this small 7.15 ounce/200 gram manufactured French Fromagerie du Pays de Bray's surface ripened Neufchatel from HEB's Central Market here in Houston, Texas for USD12.

Most surface ripened cheeses exported from France to US are made with pasteurized vs raw cow's milk, and to aid shelf life are, fromthis discussion, stabilized so that they are made ready aged and will not age further and thus will not become "a point".

This cheese looks primarily rennet not lactic coagulated, OK flavour, very fun shape but would not buy again.

Pictures probably useful to anyone that has not seen heart (coeur in French) shaped surface ripened cheeses before.

Thanks for the strip-tease.   ;)
It looked quite enticing until you sliced it.   ;)
