Nothern California Association Of Cheesemakers Without a Home
« on: February 04, 2009, 07:14:20 AM »
So I live in Burlingame right next to San Francisco, California. If anyone is interested in getting together to start a cheese making club let me know. We'll have cheese making days, secret handshakes and tasting.

Hey Carter,
It would be great to get together, have a couple of glasses of wine and talk cheese.  Work and farm are crazy right now as the weather sucks and I have a couple of trips to Europe coming up real soon.  When everything dries out a little and my latest round of work nuttiness chills out I would love to see your latest cheese pro-press 1000 in action.

Where you live would be about midway between Carter and me... I think... I have to look at a map.  Ya, about halfway between.

Hey:

Count me in.  I live up in Novato, but would make the trek anywhere local to hone my skills.  I'm about 2 years into the craft, and still making too many mistakes!

Hey Carter,
You going to be around next Saturday (the 7th I believe)?  I,m back from Washington and will be heading out to Germany and Switzerland the following week.  Let me know if a get together works for you?

So I'm new here, new to cheese making, and see that it's been about a year since all of you posted... BUT... did you guys ever get together?  I'm on the peninsula in San Carlos/Redwood City, and would enjoy meeting some other local cheese makers.  There are two in my homebrew club - that's how I was inspired.  The sharing at the homebrew club is great, so I imagine it would be similar with a local cheese club.

Anyone interested?  Is there a club established already/yet?

For all you Fight Club fans.

No we never got together, it might be interesting to get together and talk and make cheese.

Hey, at least I got a response without knowing the secret handshake!  Whew...

I'm happy to offer my place for a get together.  It's generally centrally located if people are coming from further away.  I will also offer my homebrew to pair with any cheeses people have.  My first cheeses won't be ready for a couple more months, but I'd even make a fresh cheese or buy something interesting from the store to share.

Weekends are tough for me, and fridays can be exhausting after a long week... so my preference is always for a thursday.  But if others are coming from further away, maybe it will have to be a weekend thing?  What is anyone else's preference?  Of course if it's just me and Cartierusm, then we can just figure something out offline.

Hmmmmm........

After a long absence I come to the board and find this old thread.  Carter....how the heck are you.  I have not used the pneumatic press as much as I would have liked, but I have done a few cheeses with it and it is awesome.

Some kind of cheese making club might be fun.  In SOnoma COunty I am somewhat removed from the rest of you guys, but who knows?
