Cream Cheese and My 1st Bag Prototype! :D
« on: June 17, 2012, 11:04:17 PM »
I finished my 2nd batch of cream cheese this afternoon and I'm really happy with the recipe that I found. Hubs gave it 2 thumbs up aside from wiping out the 1st batch which speaks louder than words.

Last night, I decided to work up a drain bag that I've been thinking about for awhile, especially after seeing the prices some places what! I didn't really measure anything but had the idea in my head. I used butter muslin that I had on hand from another project. Same with the cotton string for the closure. I like it for the most part and it's not as messy to me as wadding up a bunch of cloth.

Cons: It's a bit long in the tooth. The next one will be "shorter".
The opening needs to be wider so it can fold over my largest colander for easier filling. So I'll shape it like a V

Pros: I love the gussets.
I really like the double ties
         It's 100% natural materials
Made in the USA by yours truly ;D

Hanging around...

Gusset

Cream Cheese...Yummy!!!

I think I'm going to split out my batch and add some fresh strawberries for a breakfast spread. I did that last week with blueberries and it was a hit around here.  ;)

Thank you DeejayDebi! That's very kind of you! We're still eating that cream cheese here. I did the strawberry flavored one and then some with garlic and chives and another with Vermont white cheddar and horseradish, and plenty of it plain....I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get rid of it! LoL

Well D'uh! I'm such a dingbat sometimes.  :o This isn't my recipe but one I found on YouTube that the lady got from Leeners website, to give proper credit. I only tweaked my hang time (sounds like a surfing term  ;D )

How to make Cream Cheese Part 1

and http://www.leeners.com/cheese/recipes/cream-cheese.shtml This recipe made a boatload of cream cheese for me. The container that I show mine in is a 1.65L/58oz. I had more than enough to do a huge cheesecake if I wanted and would have had plenty leftover too. Come to think of it I may have to do a cheesecake soon.  :)
