Considering buying mycoderm for tommes.  Unfortunately, it only comes in 100 dose packets at $100+.  I'll do it, provided I can keep it, having been opened and kept in the freezer in an airtight canister (I use old prescription bottles), hoping for at least 3 years.

Anyone - thoughts?

Prescription bottles are not really air/moisture tight. I use small medical grade Nalgene bottles.

Ah, thanks, Sailor...that was what I recall you saying but somehow I spaced it in practice, probably to the detriment of my cultures.  I'm not talking about childproof caps but twist on bottles, but probably the same result.  John@PC uses smaller foil pouches, I imagine zip lock.  Can you tell me where you source the nalgene bottles, Sailor?

Thank you, by the way, Pete.  I've had terrible luck with vacuum sealers' durability, but I'm sure that's the best way.  Under advisement, thanks.

There are tons available on Ebay or thru online container supply companies.

I prefer the wide mouth jars to facilitate transfer of the cultures into the bottles. Here are twelve 60ml wide mouths on Ebay for just $22 including shipping.

I sanitize new bottles with StarSan and place the bottle and the lid upside down on a paper towel. The residual will sanitize the paper towel when draining. Be sure the bottle is TOTALLY dry before closing it up.
