Title: Looking for a great cheese store, maker, monger, etc in Dallas or Fredericksburg
Post by: jillyphish on June 05, 2009, 01:11:37 PM
I'm going to be in the Dallas/McKinney area the first part of the 4th of July weekend, and then moving back down toward Houston via the long way into the Fredericksburg area.   8)

Anyone have suggestions of a good cheese "stop"?   ???

I'm thinking a good place to pick up some cheese, check out a cheese farm, etc.  We like to stop at Becker Vineyard, outside of Fredericksburg for a glass of wine and a cheese plate - they carry PureLuck goat cheese.  If you know of someplace worthy of a stop, please let me know!

thanks!  Jill

Alas - our travel for the 4th of July is now adjusting to a trip from north of Dallas to Boerne on the way back to Houston.  Any suggestions for places with good cheese, etc.?  We are planning a low-key weekend and would have time to stop along the way.  Thx.

Hi Jill, don't know where Boerne or sadly a good cheese shop, but just S of I-10 1/2 way between San Antonio & Houston is Shiner, they do a great 1/2 hour tour of their brewery, also, in town just before brewery on corner is a great old world rest in a turn of century pharmacy with huge old German bar. Have fun!
