Title: Home from Germany
Post by: tnbquilt on April 06, 2014, 09:25:49 PM
I returned from my German vacation yesterday. It was a really good trip. We didn't get to see anyone making cheese but we did go to the Viktualienmarkt in Munich. I am posting two pictures of the cheeses that they had there for sale. I bought a piece of the Bayerischer Bergkasse, and the Pfefferkase, and the Alpkase. The Alpkase is two years old and very strong. The Bayerischer Bergkasse and the Pfeferkase was made in Bavaria, so they were local cheeses. The Pfeferkase rind was covered in dried herbs. All three are delicious and I didn't have any trouble bringing them through customs.

Hello,

what kind of 'Alpkäse'

if it was labeled 'Alp' and not 'Alm' than chances are it came from somewhere Alemannic, like Switzerland or the Black Forest region.
There are hundreds of different cheeses called 'Alpkäse'
