Title: vat stirrer!!
Post by: Chicken man on July 07, 2012, 09:26:15 AM
Hi all!
Finally got my vat stirrer set up and churns the milk great....but sadly won't stir my cut curds!!
think it would possibly need a broader blade...this on is only about 130mm in diamiter!
have added some pics so you can see the bayonet style fitting on the end for attachment to the drive motor ( an ex-juicer).cheers
Ian

I would not use a blade\worm design as you have very little contact area, but two wide rectangular sheets with some empty spots in between so the curds can pass thru.
Also the angular set up (not over head) is a bit weird and you might not get to all the curds.

I am having one made by Frank Kipe at Micro Dairy.
It will fit into my vat from him.
It is just about the full diameter of my vat and is about 5 inch high. We laser cut "teeth" in 1 inch spacings.
I am just waiting on deliver.

Good one Steff!.. If my vat was round that style  would be great, but next time maybe!
Herrman, I think the RPM must be about 1 rev per second; is quite slow and great for the milk b4 gelling!
cheers

OK, that's a good speed, but I think Tomer is right about the placing and blade, it will be hard to stir the curd this way...
