Title: Hello from Texas
Post by: Flourmom on October 16, 2013, 02:09:14 AM
I am so excited to be a part of this forum. I have been interested in making cheese for quite some time and have been following Ricki Carroll and her web site for a little over a year. We recently were in New York in the finger lakes area and I picked up a cheese making brochure at one of the wineries.  They were offering a cheese making class the following day. My husband and I signed up and I'm so glad we did. The class was at First Light Farm and Creamery and it was so helpful. When we got home, I had my milk source located and purchased, and my first successful attempt at 30 minute mozzarella completed before we had even finished unpacking. We have a small vineyard (planted our first acre last Feb and have another acre in the works for planting next Feb) and my husband is learning to make wine, so my desire to make cheese will be a nice compliment.

Hi Flourmom

Great to have you on board and so exciting to hear how you've got started.

I'm trying to spread the word on how simple and rewarding making cheese at home can be through my website. But I'm always trying to improve and I find everyone on here is so generous with their advice, you'll be so glad you joined!

All the best,

Jack

Welcome Flourmom!  You're gonna love it here!  Lots to learn, and many avid cheese-geeks to keep you entertained.  Just be warned: everyone likes PICTURES, so get your camera ready (for successes & failures alike) ;D!

I dabble in (so far kit) wine-making, and it is definitely the right pairing with any cheese.  Have fun!
