Title: Cheese Maker/Pasteurizer Employment - Wages?
Post by: Manga1985 on September 27, 2011, 11:24:24 AM
Hi guys,

Well this is my first post and I have recently emigrated to Australia. I was wondering what the rate of pay would be for a specialist
cheese maker/pasteuriser. I am 26 years old and have a total of 11 years experience in the industry. (6 years cheese making & 10 years Pasteurising)

Any information would be very grateful

There is accually a line of work called a pasteuriser? Does it involve testing of the milk or just running a pasteuriser tank?

I did both in my previous job. In the morning I would setup all the pipework and test any raw silos before production. We had lab staff that come in at a later time.

Then i would operate the plant at 10,000 litres an hour. I was on 12hr shifts too.

Manga,

Base rate for an experienced  pasty operator would be minimum $25 per hour, plus shift loadings, weekend loadings,  O/T etc in the larger dairy businesses. Smaller dairies would be a little less. Try contacting the dairies in your local area, both National Foods and Parmalat have dairies in every capital city and there are a number of cheesemakers and smaller dairies in regional areas.
