Title: My new cheese press
Post by: retrojim on July 09, 2014, 09:20:47 PM
My buddy Steve is retired these days and does woodworking as a hobby. I asked him to build me a Dutch style cheese press and wow did he ever make a nice contraption! He researched plans on the Internet then added his own little flourishes. The little groove near the end of the lever arm is filled with clear epoxy and contains two hand forged nails he found in the wood while building the press (see the closeup pic). The wood is 100+ year old fir reclaimed from a demolished old house.

I'm looking forward to calibrating and trying this out soon!
