Title: looking for a picture

Maybe last year I was asking about presses and one of you posted a pic of your set up. There were three or four presses on the wall. If you know what I am talking about can you please direct me to those pictures again.

Steff, forgive if you've already looked at this one, but one of the original posts in that thread had a bunch of closeups and whatnot of the press setup.  Are those the ones you can't see that clearly?  If not, look at Reply #3 here:

Sailor, I have a few questions about your press table. Hope you do not mind.
Is the wood under the table to stabilize the table while pressing?
Also what formula is used for the pulley system?
What kind of force is placed on the back of the press, the black pipe?
I see the table is slightly pitched . How does that effect the slope of the cheese? Are the molds right on the table with no mat to keep them up out of the whey?

The lever gives 5:1 and the pulleys multiply that to another 5:1, so I have a total of 25:1 advantage. Just 10 pounds translates to 250 pounds at the follower. With 6 presses, that's 1500 pounds every time I make cheese. That would crush a table without extra support. There are forces pulling and pushing in several different directions. including the pipe, so you need substantial reinforcement.

The table is very slightly sloped, so I have to compensate for that on the angle of the ramrod to avoid cockeyed cheeses. The molds are placed on cutting boards with draining grooves not directly on the table.

Does the length of rope with the weight matter? If so how?

Not really, the length will be determined by the size of the apperatus.
