Title: Is Homemade Cheese Better For You?
Post by: Roo on February 05, 2009, 02:24:24 PM
With only cottage cheese under my belt, I know it tasted a lot better than store bought, but is homemade cheese better for you in anyway over store bought cheeses?

Probably only in the fact that we know what went into it.  No preservatives, chemicals, artificial colouring etc, etc.  It's one of the main reasons that I home make most things, is to reduce the amount of chemicals/preservatives in the home and food.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Agree with Tea, first from ingredients, I've mooched around some of the Cheese Culture Manufacturers (http://www.cheeseforum.org/Making/Culture_Manufacturers.htm) websites and you will not believe the range of additives available to cheeses :o. Nothing like the artisan cheese makers before us over the last 1000 years.

And second of course everything tastes better when your hard labour has gone into it ;D.
