I'm just reposting work that others have done, but when it comes to photographing cheese these two posts have been instrumental in upping my game.
First off, building a lightbox

Mine is a tad different, but same idea

And as for composition, Lolo from Veganyumyum is probably the best amateur food photographer I have seen. Her writeup is inspirational

Great post. Now all I need to get a camera that takes decent pictures.
Thanks for the post!

So I'm not saying I take great pics, but the camera I use cost $119 brand new from Amazon at the time. The secret really is the lightbox, setting the color balance to 'tungsten' if your light source is a halogen work light like mine is, and setting the camera to Macro (the little flower icon). It won't turn you into Ansel Adams, but those three things made me proud of my creations.
Oh, the camera I use is http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A590IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B0011ZCDKS?ie=UTF8&s=photo# (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A590IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B0011ZCDKS?ie=UTF8&s=photo#)

Those Cannon's are great little cameras! I got my son one for Xmas last year they do everthing! They even make movies!
I need to get a new one. I have a 12 year old Olypmus that is slowly dying. It just doesn't focus right anymore. Sometimes I have to turn it on and off a few times to get it to snap a picture. And forget closeups! It just blurrs. Might've been dropped one time to many! I was going to get one this year but too many other toys to get first!
BTW your pictures are fantastic!
