Title: Curd Cutter - Chillipepper's First Attempt

Thanks to Carter for the inspiration and many words of wisdom over the phone last night. I think I have the first version that I can work with.  My main goal at this time was to get something I could use for the dreaded horizontal cuts.  This one is for 1/2 inch cuts and I suppose somewhere down the line it would be nice to have one for 1/4 inch as well.  This particular design wouldn't work as the side frames probably wouldn't hold up that well.  I really hope this one holds up the way it is.  It is suprisingly rigid however.  Hopefully give it the maiden run this weekend.    My over stock on g-strings for my electric guitar took a pretty good dent on this project! :D

That looks great!
What did you use for the frame and how did you attach the wires? It looks as though they are welded or soldered. Do you have a welder that is capable of doing stainless?
Anyway, I'm envious. I would love to try making a set of these but I don't have the proper equipment to do stainless steel.
I do plan on buying some from Carter in the future, but it would be so much more satisfying to build them myself.

Looks like a piece of junk to me have you checked out the sweet ones over at thecheesewhey.com? I think they are much better than yours....LOL ;D

Really Chili they do look good. But "G-Strings" come on, now you're just teasing me.

Damn Carter... just saw this!   :)  I certainly need to stay out of the tall grass as I certainly can't pee with the big boys yet!  Doesn't mean I can't try... it just gets a little messy at times.  ;D

Otherwise, on a more serious note this has really worked out very well for me!  It is so nice being able to make nice cube curds.  Using, or trying to use, a knife was just a major pain for the horizontal cuts.  This is about a 10 second process and you are done.

I was thinking about the same thing but with stainless steel piano wire.

Is there any reason you can't run the wires in both directions making both vertical and horizontal cuts at once?

People seem to say that if you do vertical and horizontal on one, you get too much drag and end up not getting clean cuts. I guess it kind of catches on the curd and ends up pulling on the cubes rather than cutting cleanly through them.

...I don't remember where I read that. It's gotta be around here somewhere.
