CHR Hansen is a Danish Cheese & Yogurt Culture and Rennet Manufacturing Company (http://cheeseforum.org/Making/Culture_Manufacturers.htm). I am using some of their rennet in retail, not wholesale size packets (http://cheeseforum.org/forum/index.php/topic,148.0.html) and I keep seeing their name in the press for example:
- Jan 12, 2009, CHR Hansen releases two new White Brined Cheese (Feta) making cultures (http://www.npicenter.com/anm/templates/newsATemp.aspx?articleid=23006&zoneid=5), FD-DVS WBC-01\25X100U and FD-DVS WBC-02\25X100U.
- Dec 12, 2008, CHR Hansen releases new yogurt culture (http://www.npicenter.com/anm/templates/newsATemp.aspx?articleid=22898&zoneid=5) YF-M830 especially for the Middle Eastern Market.
I have just contacted the manufacturer, but is anyone else using or has found a seller of CHR Hansen's products and if so where and are they in retail or wholesale size?

Got a response to my email to CHR Hansen's HQ asking where buy their retail sized products:
"The main sales of Chr. Hansen starter cultures and enzymes is for industrial use. However for the Brazilian market we do have some cultures in retail size but they are only sold locally in Brazil for making fresh cheese and yoghurt at home. If you are interested you could contact our Brazilian Dairy Sales Manager."
I guess the rennet I bought on eBay USA and linked above must be from Brazil.
Also, no wonder no-one replied to my post ;D.

Hi John, I know this is an old post I still wanted to reply (because I am still reading here and haven't written a lot! ).
As a business selling cultures here in NZ package size is my biggest issue. Chr. Hansen only deliver 50U packs and Danciso as well and on top of this they only sell me 100 pack boxes! At least with Chr. Hansen I can order 10 or 20 sachets.
They also have a huge range of yoghurt cultures with all sort of combinations of texture and flavour as well as acidity.
Not sure if that helps
Cheers

Hi Peter
So, you sell cultures in NZ. Do you have a website?

Hello Michelle, yes I do, just click onto the little icon looking like a globe underneath the picture on the left of this post with the old man looking like a .. .well I don't know how I am looking. Or go directly to www.cottagecrafts.co.nz (http://www.cottagecrafts.co.nz) (Hope that's allowed here! :-[ )

Peter & Michelle, not really allowed but innocuous enough, just to stay bipartisan, there are some other stores in NZ, all are listed here (http://cheeseforum.org/Links/Stores_Cheese_Making_Supplies.htm).
Peter, if you want you could post an "advert" in the For Sale/Wanted Board.

Thanks Peter
Hope I didn't get you in trouble! ;)

Michelle

Hi John,
I'm thinking of switching rennets and trying out CHR Hansen's new Chymax-M. I could get a few cultures, too, repack them in a sterile environment in a vacuum pouch, and send them to you if you want.
