I would like to find a 3 ml syringe. Any suggestions on where to look for one?
-
I use a 3ml pipette for all my rennet and small fluid measurements. It works really well and you can get a fairly precise quantity.
I would suggest you practise with some water for your first try as a very small squeeze of the pipette makes a big difference in the quantity.
Hope this helps.

You can try asking your local veterinarian or pharmacy. Depends on local restrictions.

Order online from Jeffers, ValleyVet, or similar supplier.

My pharmacy is happy to supply me with them. After I explained what I wanted it for they gave me two for free (but I'm a regular customer, and clearly not wanting it for any illegal purpose).

If you don't want to wait for mail or pay shipping you might try a farm supply/feed store if you have one nearby. Tractor Supply (TSC) or Rural King are the big chains we have, but there are lots of local 'mom and pop' stores out there too.

Yeah, vets would be a good try. Many states in the US have restrictions on hypodermic needles for human use(with some, they can be legally dispensed at the pharmacists' judgement). Ironically, almost all of these states have virtually no restrictions on such needles for animal use. Another potential source would be a mycology supplier. Then of course, there is always ebay (I would be super careful here though).

I buy 2ml plastic "single use" syringes (no needles) from a pharmacy and use them time and time again.
The syringes don't cost much (a couple of cents) in our pharmacies.

To follow up, I ordered 3mm syringes and blunt tip 3" needles from an online store. This feels much more precise than the plastic bulb suction pipette. In fact, I think I need to decrease the volume of rennet I am using since my flocculation times are too short now with 1.7ml for 2 gallons measured in the syringe rather than in the pipette.

You do know you can order syringes with absolutely no needles, right? Perfume supply sources also offer tiny measuring and transferring options.

The 3 inch blunt tip needle works great for reaching down into the bottle of rennet! I am happy with it.
