Title: Cheese Plates - What do you put on yours?
Post by: Pawn3d on November 22, 2012, 08:05:48 PM
3-6 different cheeses, ensuring I have at least 1 soft, 1 semi-soft and 1 semi-hard cheese. (My friends aren't elite enough to appreciate blue, so I usually add only one and am usually the sole person eating it.)
I always have apples and pears for the brie, but when I want to go all out, I'll add grapes and persimmons.
I also add a dabble of honey to the corner of the plate. I find it to be very delicious between a table water cracker and a semi-hard cheese (aged gouda)

What's on your plate and has anyone successfully paired any vegetables?

I sometimes add cherry tomatoes...but then, as my wife says, I am weird!  lol  I think they go well with a good sharp cheddar.

Yes! Cherry or especially grape tomatoes go very well with cheddar. We often include one or the other to dip in fondue too.

A good home-grown tomato works great also!  I used to grow some really nice beefsteak tomatoes that were freaking awesome.
