Wikipedia suggests you are in fact not alone.  There are, in fact, 4,661,899 OTHER folks along with you in Alabama. 

I would suggest walking out your front door, and then walk around randomly.  You are bound to run into a fellow Alabamaian.

 ;D Yeah, there's a handful of cheesemakers out here, I think I might start a club though so we can all get together, etc. 

I know here we've had three facilities set up in the last 6mts.  And I'm sure in the south there's more.  Alice of sweet home is real nice and told me of a few cheesemakers in central AL.  So we here. ;D

Birmingham is such a large city, they have some cheese shops there so there must be lots of cheesemakers or at the least intrest there.  If one of those shops have a wine and cheese class/tasting, that would be a good way to meet fellow cheeseheads.   :)
