OK, I'll start this board off, I currently live in Katy area of Houston, Texas, and for any other Cheese Makers here, I've found liquid "vegetarian" Malaka Brand Rennet in Whole Foods Store in Sugarland in the cheese department ;D.
I've also looked in Whole Foods Store downtown that didn't have it.
I've also looked in a couple of Kroger and HEB Grocery stores here in Katy and no rennet.
-
Really? Liquid rennet at a Whole Foods, pretty cool. What conditions are they kept in, low light, cool? I would ask the buyer how often they move the product to make sure it's fresh.
-
Fair point, it was in a solid white bottle (http://cheeseforum.org/Making/images/Malaka%20Brand%20Vegetarian%20Liquid%20Rennet%20-%2001%20Outside%20Packaging,%20Front.JPG) inside a box and hung in cooler section next to some packaged cheese :D.
Now I am smarter and will check the dates and grab the box from the back!
-
Well at least they have it in the cooler which means they know something about it.
P.S. As a precaution I would contact the manufacturer and make sure it's regular cheese making rennet and is single strength 1:15,000.
-
I hope this is still the case.

I know this is old but figured I would put this out there
