Is anyone going to attend this event this year?  Here is the dates:  July 23-26, 2008 Chicago.  I was at the event last year when it was held in Vermont.  The lectures were great and not to mention the amount of cheese I got to sample was excellent.  There are a lot of small cheese makers in attendence so they are always excited to talk shop with the attendents so if anyone could get there they should.  Would really help with all you cheese makers out there.  I'm going again, hoping to find that next great cheese to bring into my product mix for the NYC resturants.

Hi Merlin, lots of cheese and lots of cheese makers, Nirvana!!!

Remember the Chevy Chase movie National Vacation? Sadly I don't think I could convince my family to do a cross country driving holiday from Houston north to Chicago and back for this event, but would love a report back and snaps! Maybe I should start laying the cheese crumbs now to family doing it next summer . . . I am still very envious of your job 8).

Snaps & a report for sure.  Just so you know next years show is in Seattle.  I'm thinking that place is worth a family vacation.

Now that fits way better as Vancouver Canada is my home town and normally visit each summer and Seattle is only 3 hours south and often go camping at nearby Whidby Island State Park. Just checked their website, $150 annual membership + $200 for 4 day event on Aug 5-8, 2009 plus $200 a day for hotel and meals, means $1000 and time for what is currently a hobby . . . . OK it's cheap vs 4WD or BBQ type hobbies ;D. Need to lay crumbs now . . .

On another subject, do you know much about Tomme au Marc? New member DaggerDoggie has made one and we weren't sure if it was supposed to be submerged in wine and grape peels and seeds or just with splash of wine? Appreciate any advice of info in that thread!

now that sounds like a great time and a good learning experience especially for us beginers. unfortunately it goes into the end of the week and into the weekend making it impossible for this guy because of work. it is impossible to get off on the weekends during our busy time of the year :-(

Merlin, less than two weeks to this event, assuming you are still going, don't forget to give us a write up and few snaps for us all . . . please!

Well for me it will only ever be a dream of attending something like this, so a report and pic would be wonderful.
Pretty please.

Merlin, have fun at this event.

Just noticed that this same event 2009 is no longer in Seattle but in Austin, Texas, USA, started new thread for it here.
