Hi I am also a newbie to the delights of cheese related products.

One question how do you rate Dairylea slices  and the ever so lovely cheese strings.

A chap I converse with on a regular basis syas that dont be long in the cheese family and has declared a boycott of said product.

I am also a big fan of Primula

Hello rcmokcub and welcome to these forums.

I confess growing up on this side of the pond I could only guess as to what you were talking about, but after googling i see that you are talking about a British Kraft Cheese product brand called Dairylea which has almost a cult like following and another British product called Primula. Primula is a available in flavoured squeeze tubes and as a spreadable flavoured cheese similar to the Boursin discussed here.

Frankly I agree with that they should not be classified as cheese but you may find the attached US/Canadian Kraft Product line interesting:
