I'm from Great Yarmouth UK and been living here in Spain for 30 years, my first job on leaving school, until joining the merchant navy was smoking herring, so I built myself a brick smoke-house  and have been smoking cheese ,salmon, trout, ribs, paprika, garlic, rice, etc. which I supply to local bars and restaurants and ex-pats   I also make English style sausages and pork pies.

Now my love of cheese has got me turning my hand to try cheese-making and i have spent the last week ordering ingredients and moulds etc. and can't wait to get started, and I'm in the process of making a press.

Sadly most of the local goat herders have gone, so I am trying to convince the missus to buy a couple of goats ,( without much luck yet )

I hope to keep you informed of my progress all the best ! Pilgarlic

Hi Pilgarlic.  Looking forward to following your progression (said while envying anyone with a brick smoke-house :)).

Hi there--did I miss where you said you lived in Spain?  Love the north Atlantic coastal areas especially, myself, and a great place for goats!  If you get dairy goats you will find they are like potato chips (crisps to you) -- you can't eat just one!
before goats, store bought milk = chevre & feta, with goats, infinite possibilities, goatie love, lotta work cleaning out the barn!
