New Cave question

After my discovery of my user error, the Perfect Cheese controllers for temperature and humidity seem to be working well. I have loaded the cave with the about 60# of cheese which I had in two smaller fridges. I think the cheese is probably helping the humidity, though the humidifier runs much of the time.

On the other hand, the refrigerator very rarely turns on. The temperature in my relatively cool garage is about the same as what the controller is set for on the fridge.

My primary concern then is about how the switching on of the compressor and fan, for very short run times, will effect the unit. I don't know much of anything about how refrigeration works, or how it might be affected by having a short run cycle.

Should I be considering some other way of governing the temperature?

This True GDM -14 is a thing of beauty with room to spare. I would like it to have a long life indeed!!

I don't have an answer, but just wanted to say that those are some beautiful cheeses in an awesome cave!

How often does it cycle and how long does it stay on before shutting off? The problem with a fridge turning on and off a lot is the motor will burn out faster than if it turns on and runs for a normal amount of time then shuts down. This is because it takes more power (amps) to start a motor than it does to run one so the more time the motor spends starting up the lower the life expectancy of the motor.

Does motor mean compressor?
The unit does not turn on very often at this time of year - maybe 4 times in 24 hours. Ambient temperature in the garage is not much above the refrigerator temperature, and it is a well sealed box.
It powers on at 60 degrees, and powers off when the temp gets to 56. I have not timed how long that takes, but my guess is maybe 2 minutes. I could set a wider range so the power would stay on a bit longer. Does than make any sense?

Yes the motor runs the compressor. You are fine with it kicking on and off in that amount of time. It's only a problem if it's turning on and off like 20 times a day and running for only short amounts of time.
