Hi!
I am a science teacher in Rochester, NY and have always loved cheese.  Recently, I started making cheese as a hobby, starting with different soft ones.  I love the science, cooking and cheese so really it was a natural progression!  I have been using milk from the Buffalo region, but I would like to find a more local one if possible.  I joined the forum to read people's suggestions, tips etc since I don't know anyone else who makes cheese!  Right now I just make it for my family and friends, but maybe some day I will branch out...although I'm not sure how my husband would feel about getting a cow!  ;D

Morning Jaq and welcome to this forum, I was the same when I first started, I knew no one who wanted to make cheese, but it gets you hooked as there are so many cheeses ;D.

FYI, there's a NY State Board in case you want to make any local type posts.

Again welcome.

Hello Jaq and welcome to cheese making!

I am not really familuar with all the little towns around NY even though I am next door in CT but here's a place that may be helpful for finding milk in your area.

Hello Jaq and welcome to the forum. I live in the southern Hudson Valley so it is good to have another from the Empire State. You didn't specify if the milk you used was raw or commercial. I have used Stewart's milk with very good success when raw was not available. That said, there are too many benefits to using raw milk when you can. Happy cheese making!
