I need to make a cheese press.  And I was negotiating my way around this web site and found a section on cheese making equipment . . . I was surprised that there was no mention of the all important cheese press.   I thought there would be a discussion on how to make a cheese press and where to buy already made cheese presses.  Am I missing something here?  Any thoughts?

Umgowa, I just posted pictures of the one my hubby made me....using the plans shown here
http://fiascofarm.com/dairy/cheesepress.html

It took about 15 minutes and 17usd to make.  you can see the pictures here:

oh, on the top board, he made the holes 1 inch instead of 3/4 inch so the board would come off easier for redressing/flipping the cheese.  the whole thing comes apart for compact storage!

Hope this helps you!

umgowa,

The second row of "EQUIPMENT" includes presses.
There are several types and plans you'll find by searching.

Here is one where several designs were discussed. Good luck.

Here's a picture of my stepladder & paint bucket press in action 8).

Seriously though, as Alex says, most of the EQUIPMENT - Forming Cheese board is filled with posts about presses.
