Title: greetings from East Texas
Post by: vlyons on February 14, 2009, 08:49:59 AM
Hi: I'm Virginia in East Texas (the piney woods). I have a 50 acre alpaca and llama ranch and run  a few dairy goats - nubians and french alpines. Currently, my goatie girls give me about 2 gal per day. So I'm learning to make cheese. I also manufacture a home cheese press and cheesemaking kit that I sell on ebay.

I'm looking forward to learning lots from this forum.

cheers

Welcome, I also run a website selling cheese presses. You'll want to talk with Captain as he has goats too, I'm sure he'll chat you up. Lady Liberty has an alpaca farm too, she's in the Santa Cruz mountains in California.

P.S. Aren't alpacas the ones that Luke Skywalker used to stay warm when Han Solo found him in Empire Strikes Back.

Welcome Virginia to the forum, you have a great website on your farm and Alpacas.

I still remember the childhood sense of wonder I had to the push-me-pull-you in the original British Dr. Dolittle movie on the big screen ;D.

Good news, there are now about 3-4 of us in Texas, I'm in Katy west side of Houston, and have been to The Piney Woods few times when our daughters used to go to YMCA Camp Cullen on that lake, beautiful area. I've set up a Geographic Board (https://cheeseforum.org/forum/index.php/board,86.0.html) for us Texans (OK I grew up in Canada) in case you or others have any Texas specific stuff.

PS: You'll get used to Carter who just posted before me, he's our resident comedian ;D.

PPS: There is a Buy/Sell Board (https://cheeseforum.org/forum/index.php/board,83.0.html) in case you want to advertise your press/kit.
