Title: Anyone using Red Polls for butter or cheese-making?
Post by: RHC81 on November 07, 2015, 10:14:21 PM
Is anyone using Red Polls for butter or cheese-making? I know they, historically, were used for this and are still considered a heritage dual-purpose breed. Any experiences with them?

We had some jersey/red poll crosses! No pure red poll though, sorry! The jersey obviously will make higher volumes of milk and have that high butterfat. Red poll is good dual purpose- and good to cross breed into jerseys to improve things like leg and foot stature. I love the color of the red poll too and the crosses seem to have been much stronger calves than the pure jersey calves. Are you thinking about getting one?
