Why there is no cheese production in Asia O(my case Thailand)I love cheese and want to buy quality products, but everything is imported and expensive much more then home and they dont import the good and not fresh products.
I know of this new cheese factory in Bangkok, Thailand and tried their cheese once, it was very good and very fresh,bu they only make soft cheese, no yellow or smoked cheese. Its better then nothing but i want more.
Anyway for those living in Bangkok, you can buy your soft/white cheese there: WWW.HOMEMADE-CHEESE.COM (//http://) they have cheese list there.
Please update if you have information regarding other cheese producers in Asia or Thailand, especially god quallity yello and smoked cheese.
Thanks
Hi Henry and welcome to this forum.
Good morning Henry and welcome to the forum.
Hello Henery Welcome to the forum.
Welcome! Perhaps you will be the pioneering cheesemaker in Thailand?
We've heard that before I'm just so surprised that there's not a cheese culture there. Anyway, welcome.
Hi Henry,
I too am in Thailand..Chonburi. There is a guy here who has a goats farm and hes manufacturing soft cheese. Also I picked up some commercial cheddar from Big C a while back it was produced in Korat looked quite professionally packed, so I am guessing maybe a big company? Oh and there's me, still trying to master the art of Cheddar...not quite there yet though.
Regards
Nick
I think that you need to shop around. There are several large cheese manufacturers in Thailand. There is a danish company here and a few others. There are also smaller institutions. A few of the agricultural departments produce, and sell whole milk and a few make their own cheese.
However, the market is a little small because 80% of the Thai population don't like cheese. It is a little ironic because we love Durian and that smells worse than Limburger.
Where I am from is Chiang Mai. We have a chain here called Rimping, if you have something similar in BKK, you can get smoked gouda, a few varieties of blue, some cheddars (their recipe is not to my liking) and a few types of mozzarella.
Again, none of it is imported but it is still quite expensive. Any milk product is here. Milk production is relatively new to Thailand. My grandmother told me that she never drank milk until she went to the US for university in 1950.
Thanks everybody.
I hope this HomeMade-Cheese Co. can make it in bangkok and be the pioneer in Than\iland and maybe spreading around Asia.
We nned more cheese makers in Asia/there is a growing demant for Cheese and Yogurt and most of it is imported'especially the cheese or the premium products.
its about time to have Premium cheese and dairy products in Thailand and in Asia.
Good luck Henry! I don't know how anyone could resist a good cheese!
Hi Guys,
Its been a while, any new about local or Home Made Thai cheese? or maybe news about cheese in Bangkok (Thats where i live), I have been to CHiang-Mai and tried some local cheese there it was OK but i've tried better.
I saw teat Tops supermarket Brand " My Choice " has new its own My choice Cheese ad Yogurt that is apparently Localy made and Natural.
But they only have fresh and soft cheese, no Brie or aged cheese or Yellow cheese.
But anyway, please keep us updated regarding any "Thai Cheese News"
