Title: How to make a follower
Post by: Curd on February 23, 2018, 05:10:07 PM
I decided to try to make my own cheese.  The mold I got is 6"D at top, tapering to 5-1/2" at bottom, x 4-1/2"H.  I thought that I could make cheeder with it.  I bought a flat plastic round follower- 5.25" Diameter.  Can this be used or do I have to get one larger.  How can I make one.

My follower does not quite go to the bottom but not by much. Sounds like yours would go all the way with an 1/8" clearance? Does yours lay flat on the bottom?

Either way it should be usable. Worse case is the wheel of cheese will have a slight lip that's easy to remove with a sharp knife.

White plastic cutting boards work well and they're cheap. You'll need a jig saw and a steady hand.

Hope this helps and good luck 8)
